The Action Island

The Action Island is a floating interface that appears at the top of your screen when using Cleo. It provides quick access to patient information and clinical insights — all without leaving your current page.

The Action Island is a small, pill-shaped control panel that floats at the top-center of your screen (similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island). It stays visible as you navigate, giving you constant access to:

  • Patient context at a glance
  • Clinical insight notifications
  • Background task progress

When no patient is selected, it shows “Cleo ready” with a checkmark.

When you open a patient’s chart, the Action Island displays the patient’s name, age, and sex (e.g., “67M”). Click the patient badge to open a detailed flyout showing allergies, conditions, medications, vitals, and recent labs — a quick clinical summary without navigating away.

AllergiesDrug allergies with severity
ConditionsActive diagnoses
MedicationsCurrent meds with dosages
VitalsBP, heart rate, temp, SpO2
LabsA1c, glucose, creatinine

When Cleo identifies something needing attention — a care gap, a lab flag, or a medication alert — it appears as a notification on the Action Island. Click to see details in the side panel.

Insights are prioritized by clinical relevance and deduplicated so you don’t see the same alert repeatedly.

When Cleo works in the background (like uploading documents or syncing data), a tracker appears showing progress:

StateAppearanceMeaning
PendingAmber dotStarting soon
In ProgressBlue ringRunning
SuccessGreen checkDone
ErrorRed XFailed

Trackers show the task name and progress, and disappear automatically after completion.

Moving the island: Click and hold the drag handle (dot grid icon), drag to your preferred position, and release. Double-click the handle to reset to center. Your position is saved across sessions.

Auto-minimize: When you click into text fields or start typing, the Action Island shrinks and becomes semi-transparent to stay out of your way. It returns to normal when you click elsewhere.

When you open a patient chart, Cleo prepares a Smart Brief — a clinical summary with care gaps and important findings. The Action Island notifies you when a brief is ready.
