Patient Briefs
Explore & Navigate
Cleo can automatically map your EHR system and help you navigate quickly to any section. This is especially useful when working with unfamiliar EHR interfaces or when you need to jump between sections frequently.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Cleo offers two related features:
- Explore — Automatically discovers and maps all sections of your EHR
- Navigate — Quickly jump to any discovered section
Explore: Mapping Your EHR
Section titled “Explore: Mapping Your EHR”The Explore feature systematically navigates through your EHR to discover all available screens and how they connect.
Starting an Exploration
Section titled “Starting an Exploration”-
Log into your EHR and navigate to any page.

Look for the Action Island floating at the top of your screen.

Click the menu icon to open the actions dropdown.

Select Explore to begin mapping.

Wait approximately 2 minutes while Cleo explores the system.
What Happens During Exploration
Section titled “What Happens During Exploration”While exploring, Cleo:
- Opens multiple tabs in your browser window (you’ll see them appear)
- Navigates through menus, buttons, and links automatically
- Identifies what each screen is (schedule, inbox, medications, etc.)
- Records how to get from one screen to another
- Closes the tabs when finished
Progress Tracking
Section titled “Progress Tracking”During exploration, you’ll see a progress tracker showing:
- Number of screens discovered
- Number of navigation paths found
- Overall progress percentage
Viewing the Map
Section titled “Viewing the Map”After exploration completes:

Click View Map in the progress tracker (or from the Action Island menu).

Review the navigation map showing all discovered screens.

See which page types were found and how they connect.
The map displays:
- Total screens visited
- Navigation paths discovered
- Page types found (shown as visual tags)
- A list of all discovered destinations
Navigate: Quick Jumps
Section titled “Navigate: Quick Jumps”Once you’ve explored your EHR, use Navigate to instantly jump to any section.
Using Navigate
Section titled “Using Navigate”-
Click the menu icon in the Action Island.

Select Navigate to open the navigation prompt.

Type what you’re looking for (e.g., “schedule”, “medications”, “labs”).

Select from the suggested destinations or press Enter.

Cleo navigates you directly to that section.
Suggested Destinations
Section titled “Suggested Destinations”The Navigate prompt shows up to 6 suggested destinations based on what was discovered during Explore. Common destinations include:

| Inbox | Messages and tasks |
| Patient Chart | Full patient record |
| Medications | Medication list for a patient |
| Labs | Lab results and orders |
| Vital Signs | Patient vitals and measurements |
Patient Context
Section titled “Patient Context”Some destinations require a patient to be selected:
- No patient needed: Schedule, Inbox, Patient List
- Patient required: Medications, Labs, Vitals, Chart sections
Keyboard Shortcuts
Section titled “Keyboard Shortcuts”| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Enter | Go to selected destination |
| Escape | Close the navigation prompt |
| Arrow keys | Navigate through suggestions |
Page Detection
Section titled “Page Detection”Cleo automatically detects what page you’re currently on. This helps with:
- Showing relevant actions in the Action Island
- Understanding context for Patient Briefs
- Knowing when you’re on a patient chart vs. a list
Detected page types include:
- Patient chart (viewing one patient)
- Patient list (search results, panels)
- Schedule (calendar, appointments)
- Inbox (messages, tasks)
- Order entry (placing orders)
- Results review (lab results)
- Medication list
- Documentation (notes)
The Action Island
Section titled “The Action Island”The Action Island is the floating interface at the top of your EHR screen. It provides:
- Current context — Shows the patient you’re viewing (if any)
- Quick actions — Contextual action buttons
- Menu access — Explore, Navigate, View Brief, and more
- Progress trackers — Status of running operations
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Make sure you’re logged into your EHR
- Some pages may require specific permissions
- Try starting Explore from the EHR’s home page
- Run Explore first to discover available destinations
- Check that the destination exists in your EHR
- Some destinations may require a patient to be selected
- Refresh the page
- Make sure you’re on a configured EHR site
- Check that Cleo has permissions for the site
