Installing Cleo

This guide walks you through installing Cleo and connecting it to your EHR system.

Make sure you have:

  • Google Chrome browser (version 88 or higher)
  • The Cleo extension ZIP file (provided by Aether)
  • Access to your EHR system’s web interface
  1. Extract the Cleo ZIP file to a folder on your computer. Remember where you saved it.

  2. Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions in the address bar.

  3. Enable Developer mode using the toggle in the top-right corner.

  4. Click Load unpacked and select the folder where you extracted Cleo.

  5. Click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome’s toolbar, then click the pin icon next to Cleo to keep it visible.

After installing, you’ll need to create an account:

  1. Click the Cleo icon in your toolbar to open the side panel.

  2. Click Create Account and enter your name and email address.

  3. Create a password (minimum 8 characters). You’ll see a strength indicator as you type.

  4. Optionally enter your organization name (hospital or clinic).

  5. Review and accept the Terms of Service, then click Create Account.

During signup (or later in Settings), connect your EHR:

  1. Select your EHR system from the list (Epic, Cerner, athena, eCW, MEDITECH, or Other).

  2. Enter your EHR’s web address (e.g., https://ehr.yourhospital.com).

  3. Click the test button to verify the connection.

  4. When Chrome asks permission to access the website, click Allow.

After setup, verify everything is working:

  1. Click the Cleo icon in your toolbar
  2. You should see your email and be logged in
  3. Your EHR should be listed in Settings
  4. The setup indicator should show complete

  • Click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome’s toolbar
  • Find “Cleo” in the list and click the pin icon
  • If not listed, try reloading the unpacked extension

When you receive a new ZIP file from Aether:

  1. Extract the new ZIP to the same folder (replacing existing files).

  2. Go to chrome://extensions in Chrome.

  3. Click the refresh icon on the Cleo extension card.

Go to chrome://extensions, find Cleo, and click Remove. Confirm when prompted.
