Getting Started with Cleo

This guide walks you through capturing patient data for the first time.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Cleo installed with an account created
  • At least one EHR added in Settings
  • Site permissions granted for your EHR
  1. Navigate to your EHR in Chrome and log in with your normal credentials.

  2. Search for and open any patient’s chart.

  3. Click the Cleo icon to open the side panel. You’ll see patient data appear automatically.

  4. Review the patient demographics, medications, conditions, labs, and more.

The panel header shows the patient’s name, date of birth, and MRN. Below that, you’ll find sections for Medications (drug, dosage, frequency), Conditions (diagnoses), Allergies (allergens and reactions), Labs (recent results), and Vitals (latest measurements).

Care Gaps appear when Cleo identifies recommended screenings or follow-ups that may be due.

Sync status: A cloud icon means synced to Hub, “Uploading” means sync in progress, and “Offline” means it will sync when online.

Cleo reads data from the pages you visit in your EHR. To build a complete patient picture:

  • Medications: Visit the Medications or Orders section
  • Labs: Open Lab Results and scroll through history
  • Problems: View the Problem List or Diagnoses
  • Vitals: Check the Vitals or Flowsheet section

If you work across multiple hospitals or clinics with different EHRs:

  1. Add each EHR in Settings with a unique name (e.g., “Memorial Epic”, “County Cerner”).

  2. Grant permissions for each EHR when prompted.

  3. Open the same patient in different systems as needed.

  4. Cleo keeps track of which data came from which source.

To sign out of Cleo:

  1. Click the Cleo icon to open the side panel.

  2. Click Settings (gear icon).

  3. Scroll down and click Sign Out.

Your data remains synced to the Hub and will be available when you sign back in.

  • Make sure you’re on a patient chart (not a patient list)
  • Wait for the page to fully load before opening Cleo
  • Check that your EHR is configured in Settings
  • Verify you granted site permissions
